1938 STINSON SR-10 (Auction), NC 21104 was built in 1938 for the Shell Oil Company and their VP Jimmy Doolittle who flew this plane 140 times from '38-'40. It has been completely restored by Roy Aero. Radials Ltd provided the Lycoming R-680 engine which now has approximately 45 hours. The interior is the same pattern and all leather as it was originally.No expense was spared in the restoration. This Gullwing was the Reserve Grand Champion at Oshkosh and Grand Champion at AAA/Blakesburg. It was the cover story in the March 2006 Issue of Vintage Airplane which can been seen at /featured. See vol. 34 no. 3 "Dinndorf Doolittle & Their Stinson". The plane will arrive at Oshkosh with a fresh annual. |
