| 1943 GRUMMAN FM-2 Wildcat (Auction), One of only a few remaining AND flyable FM-2 Wildcats left in the country!! This aircraft is currently on loan from the owner to the Museum of Flight in Washington State and is strong example of the frontline fighter that carried the air war for America in the very beginning of World War II. Built by Eastern Aircraft Division General Motors 1943 sold in 1946 to Hardwick Aircraft. The aircraft was totally rebuilt in 1973 and flown civilian until 1978 when it was placed on display at the U.S. Navy Museum Pensacola FL. It was preserved in the museum until August 1994. It was then removed from display and after an extensive inspection was returned to service. |
